Ingrid Riollot was born in France and started studying classical guitar at age eight with Isabelle Régis-Touvron, who gave her passion and love for the instrument. Ingrid graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in Lyon where she studied with Jesus Castro-Balbi and Marc Franceries. She earned all the distinctions with the highest rewards and received a Special Prize from The Philharmonique Society given to the youngest talented graduates. She continued her post graduate studies in Barcelona under Ricardo Gallen and holds French pedagogy diplomas. As a student, Ingrid participated in master classes with Joaquin Clerch, Marco Tamayo, Gérard Abiton, Costas Cotsiolis, Eric Franceries, Alberto Ponce. 

Ingrid Riollot has performed throughout the world including: Société de Guitare de Montréal (Canada), Hamilton Guitar (Canada), 23eme Festival International des Cordes Pinçées de Rabat (Maroc), Taranaki Concert Series (New-Zealand), Alberton House Aukland (New-Zealand), The Hong-Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong-Kong International Guitar Festival 2016, Shenzhen International Guitar Festival 2016 (China), Trinity College London, Pekan Nanas Philharmoniker (Malaysia), Sydney St Peter’s Church (Australia), Sydney Hunters Hill (Australia), Katoomba Carrington Ballroom (Australia), Fiuggi Guitar Festival (Italy), Milano Classical Guitar Festival, Classical Guitar Society Mauritius, Classical Guitar Society Rodriguez, Montreux (Switzerland), Casa Luthier Barcelona (Spain) and in numerous prestigious venues in France: Hôtel de Ville de Paris, Les Guitares en Cormatinois, Nancyphonies, Les 4 saisons en Charolais, Musée de Mirecourt, Musée de l’Ecole de Nancy, Music Conservatory Nancy, Ecole Superieure d’Art de Lorraine, French Guitar Society, Basilique Notre Dame-de-Lourdes Nancy, and Fondation de Coubertin.

 

Ingrid Riollot taught for twenty years in French Conservatories Albertville, Nancy, L’Haÿ-Lès-Roses, Montbéliard and in Geneva, Switzerland where she was the head of the guitar studies. Since 2018, Ingrid and Damon Smallman have given lecture demonstrations about the history, construction, and design of Smallman guitars. The lectures demonstrate comparative listening methods in order to quantify musical qualities of a guitar and how to alter the sound after the guitar is built. Currently, Ingrid is dedicating her time to performing, presenting master classes, and adjudicating competitions.

 

Currently, Ingrid plays on a 2017 Smallman & Sons guitar and is sponsored by Savarez. She is the founder of Mauritius Classical Guitar Society and president of the French Guitar Society. Ingrid lives in Australia and France.
